Lyrics & Music: MAMI
Arrangement: MAMI & Keita Kawaguchi

You read books
You read books I won't read
You read books
I listen to your impressions
And try my best to read
The books that you read
Little by little, I read
The books that you read

I'm really bad at printed text - I read the same place
Over and over and over again endlessly
But I want to shed the same amount of tears
That you shed at that one scene

A world that I didn't know appears before my eyes
Is this the author's fiction?
It's a really fleeting love story
The scenery I always overlooked
Spreads all over my mind
The author wrote: "Create the sequel on your own"

You read books
I read your profile
Do your books
Never have a happy ending?

I'm really bad at kanji - words I've never seen before
Feel like they're making me dizzy
But next time it'd be great if I could teach you
Words that you don't know, wouldn't it?

A world that I didn't know appears before my eyes
Smart lines color the stories
The scenery I always overlooked
Spreads all over my mind
There's no end for this book
I'll create the sequel on my own

I get dead tired
And my bookmark's role ends
In the ending's blank space
I'll put a happy ending for me

A world that I didn't know appears before my eyes
The author's fiction
Changes into nonfiction
The scenery I've seen up to now with you
Spreads all over my mind
I wrote: "I'll create this sequel with you"

  3. Thanks for this! Just one suggestion: Couldn't "栞の役目は終わり" "And finish with a bookmark" be better translated as "The bookmark's role is finished"? Gives it a slightly different inflection I suppose- more finality? Thanks again, and please let me know if I've totally got the wrong end of the stick! :P

    1. No, you're completely correct. I'm not sure why I translated it the way I did back then. Mistakes happen. ^^;

Anyway, thanks for letting me know!
